The Lewisham Mental Health Connection – a collaboration of mental health providers and service users in Lewisham – has launched on a bright midsummer’s day in Lewisham.
On Tuesday 24th June, the network put on a free public event at Hexagon Housing aimed at people who experience mental ill health, carers and family members, as well as professionals in the mental health field.
Over 150 guests enjoyed barbecue food and drinks, animal therapy provided by Animal Days Out indoor and outdoor games, art therapy and music.
Speaking at the launch event, Councillor Chris Best (Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Older People) said: “I welcome the Lewisham Mental Health Connection. It’s inspiring to see so much on offer here today for people who experience mental ill health. There are many great things to do in Lewisham – leisure activities and free film screenings, for example. No-one in Lewisham needs to feel isolated at home.”
